Casino's Popping Up Leads To Negative Impact on Economy

Casinos and other forms of gambling are popping up in almost every state. Every other day you hear of a new Indian Tribe that is looking for recognition. Once they receive their recognition, investors look to back these people up and in turn a new Casino is born. People all over the United States are using their paychecks for a chance to win big. In turn all of the local businesses are suffering to the point where they are now starting to file bankruptcy. Eventually, someone in political power will finally admit that the amount of money taken in from taxes on gambling is significantly less than the hardship created with the economy. Most states take in millions of dollars from their casinos, scratch tickets and lotto, but they don’t want to deal with the negative impact on the local businesses. Everyone knows there is a problem, but no one wants to face it.

People have no problem in spending hundreds and thousands of dollars at the Casino's but will quickly get upset when gas rises ten cents per gallon or their child needs more school supplies. One mother told me she was very upset that the school system did not completely cover a field trip and that it would cost her $15.00 for each of her two children. She called the school and complained. This same person had no problem the night before losing $1,300.00 at the local casino. There's no logic to this situation. In another situation, a person would steal sweet and low, butter and rolls from her local diner. She had money in her wallet but that was reserved for gambling. In both of these situations family members knew they had a gambling problem only after they noticed their quality of life was changing.

Everyone now knows someone who has a gambling problem. They don’t understand how this has happed to a loved one, but they know something has to change. The same situation occurs when you find out your brother is an alcoholic. You can’t close down every bar and you can’t bring back prohibition. You have to face it head on and look for alternatives to help your brother.

People now are beginning to speak out as the epidemic continues. A lot of people don’t even realize they have this addiction until their resources run out. Gamblers tell their friends I won $2000.00 at the Casino on Saturday, but they neglect to tell them they lost $5000.00 and the week before. Bad information is being spread in turn the recipients of this information head to the casino in an attempt to win big. If everyone won Casino’s would be out of business.

I have seen thousands of gambler’s lives destroyed because they do not know how to quit. Through education we can succeed at finding alternatives to help these people. You may find the following websites helpful:

Is Acid Reflux A Musculoskeletal Problem?

Is acid reflux disease a musculoskeletal problem? Let's look at a recent patient that came into my office for a headache. She stated that she had the headache constantly for six weeks. She also suffers with pain in her low back, and stated that she has frequent urinary tract infections. She had been to her medical doctor for the pain in her low back, and he had diagnosed her with osteoporosis, and given her a prescription for Celebrex. This patient also had a history of acid reflux.

Her family physician has been treating her acid reflux for a few years now with Nexium. Recently he ordered an endocsope of her esophagus, which showed a hiatal hernia and a condition known as Beret's Esophagus. This is a condition, which occurs due to prolonged irritation of the esophageal lining, which actually represents the beginning of cellular change, and is a pre-cancerous condition. This patient is postmenopausal, and is taking hormone replacement therapy. Now let's look at what is going on with this patient a bit closer. She is taking Nexium for the acid reflux, and has been for a number of years. This will effectively lower the acidity of her stomach. Lowering the acidity of the stomach diminishes her ability to absorb calcium, which is needed for healthy bone mass. A lower acidity also promotes the growth of bacteria in the urinary tract.

Taking the Nexium does not address the hiatal hernia, which is a protrusion of the stomach through the hiatal valve. This valve is normally closed, and only opens to the pressure of food swallowed, to allow it to enter the stomach. One must ask the question, "Why is this valve stuck open?" This patient was prescribed Celebrex for the pain in her back, which is well known to cause gastrointestinal disorders. When this patient came to me, she was a nervous wreck. She couldn't sleep, she was in constant pain and she was always crying. She thought that she was going to die.

We found that she had several structural problems with her spine. She had lost the normal curvature of her cervical spine, and was developing bone spurs on her cervical vertebrae (bones in her neck). Her spine in her low back, curved to the left. She had miss-alignments (subluxations) in several areas, C2, C3, C4, C5, effecting the nerve supply to the diaphragm. This is the large muscle that we use to breathe, and through which the esophagus passes to get to the stomach. She was also misaligned at T4 effecting the nerve supply to the heart, lungs, and gallbladder, and also at T12 and L1 effecting the nerve supply to the bladder and kidneys. She stopped taking all of her medication. We had her start taking some digestive enzymes as well as some other nutritional supplements to help build healthy bone mass.

She began a series of adjustments to re-align her vertebrae, and take pressure off of the nerves. After 10 treatments, she is smiling, she is without pain, and she is sleeping through the night, and wants to go dancing with her husband. She stated that she is improved 60%. Is acid reflux a biomechanical problem? It was in this case. So getting back to my last article about dangerous doctors. What were all those drugs treating? Just the symptoms. Nothing was done to find out why she had a hiatal hernia, why she was losing bone mass, why she was getting frequent urinary tract infections, why she had pain in her back.

I heard a commercial on Television this morning for Advair. This is a prescription drug designed to treat asthma. The ad said that it treats to two common causes of asthma, "inflammation, and bronchial constriction". These are not the "causes" of asthma, but are part of the symptoms of asthma. These are what cause the wheezing and breathing difficulties of asthma, but what is causing the inflammation and bronchial constriction? Many studies have shown that misalignment of the bones in the neck, and upper back have been associated with asthma, and re-alignment of those structures have had a dramatic effect on that condition in many people. The cause is not always subluxation, but shouldn't it be looked at before dangerous drug intervention or even worse surgical intervention? Please feel free to comment, and you can also listen to this as a podcast at http://www.westvalleyfamilyclinic.com/audio/refluxpodcast.mp3.

Can You Really Insure Your Income?

We've all heard crazy stories of how celebrities and sport stars insure themselves for ridiculous amounts of money. For the most part it is true and when you look at it a little closer its really nothing but insuring their income. If Lady GaGa loses her voice, she loses her income. If Tiger Woods injures his arm he loses his income and insurance is nothing else but a way to secure income when they lose their ability to earn money.

Looking at you and your income - even if its modest compared to celebrities, then its only a smart thing to do. Insuring your earning ability is really a smart thing to do but since most people think that they earn either too little or that the concept is only reserved for the super rich. The truth is that you can and in this day and age you should.

Various insurers carry different policies and plans to allow you to do this and speaking to someone about your options can be a good start. If you are in a job that requires your hands, then this is vitally important. For workers in the construction industry its become mandatory in several states and employers are required by law (in some states) to provide compensation insurance to protect workers.

Your ability to work and to earn money is your greatest financial resource you own and protecting it is as important as protecting and insuring your home. You can never be too safe. As the old saying goes - better safe than sorry.

The number one reason why so many ignore the importance of incapacity insurance is the cost. Its true that it can be a significant expense to add to the monthly bills, but you really need to see it from the perspective as securing the future of your family. How will you pay the bills when you have no income? How will you keep your family afloat when you can't work? Think of that and decide for yourself if its worth the expense of insuring your income.

Creditor Views On Filing Bankruptcy

Recently, there was an editorial written in a financial magazine by a pro-creditor attorney. Obviously he's very biased by whose signing his paychecks. In this article, the attorney labeled all consumer bankruptcies under Chapter 7 and failed to mention Chapter 13 bankruptcy. This attorney, in true pro-creditor fashion basically tried to enlighten its readers by building up creditors behaviors.

In this article, the attorney gave a bunch of useless and untrue information about filing bankruptcy. The first thing discussed was how credit card companies rarely sue debtors over their unpaid debts. You can just ask anyone filing for bankruptcy and they will tell you that at the time of filing if they weren't in the process of being sued the creditor was threatening it.

The next morsel was how when an individual files for bankruptcy it automatically triggers an audit from the IRS. Once again, this is far from the truth. Even the government knows that an individual filing for bankruptcy isn't a good candidate to come after. Most people in bankruptcy don't have any property left that would be easy to liquidate post bankruptcy filing. The IRS knows that if there was something there that was easy to grab, the bankruptcy trustee would have already gotten a hold of it.

Some more words of wisdom included was when creditors threatened to sue a debtor, commonly the debtor will flex their muscles with a breach of contract or fraud suit back at the creditor. Most people in extreme debt are pretty beaten down in their minds filing bankruptcy is a last resort. Usually, a debtor is in no place financially or emotionally to stand up and fight against an aggressive creditor.

Other nuggets of information that were discussed were how a creditor can challenge a debtor when filing bankruptcy, regarding the dischargeability of their debts. To a certain extent this is true. But in actuality, this rarely happens. When an individual files for bankruptcy, the creditor will need to prove fraud by the debtor to make the debt non-dischargeable. The creditor has to prove that the debtor had intent and had knowledge of a pending bankruptcy filing when they charged on the account. This is next to impossible to prove and a huge waste of time and money for the creditor. Like in many things, cost outweighs the reward.

The bottom line is, this attorney wrote a story assaulting the reasons of why consumers should not waste their time filing bankruptcy. Although he tried to make good arguments, it seemed more like a negative bankruptcy bashing story. Also the author downplayed the role of a bankruptcy attorney and how they help consumers get out of debt. The article painted an inaccurate picture of how people file bankruptcy because a bankruptcy attorney told them to and not because they are buried under crushing debt.

Know How to Look For the Best Wood Doors Suppliers

Looking for wood doors suppliers is just as difficult as choosing the type of door that you're going to buy. There are practically a lot of them these days. They even conquer the World Wide Web. Just type in "wood door suppliers" in Google, and you can generate thousands of search results.

You definitely need to narrow down your choices. Fortunately, there are guidelines that you can follow. You can take a look at the list below for someone of them:

1. Ensure that they are a legitimate business. The wood doors must come from a real company. Otherwise, if something happens to your door, such as when you're given a substandard kind, you can't run after them. It's quite easy to check the legality of the business. For one, you can go to Better Business Bureau. If you can't find it, you can drop BBB a call and see if they can check the business.

2. They must have a wide variety of products available. When you have plenty of choices for your wood doors, you won't have to be constrained on their functionality alone. You can also go for those that match the style of your home or your own taste. For example, you can select a company that offers wood doors made of ash, maple, pine, hickory, or cedar. You can also find doors that have four or six panels.

3. See if they offer free installation. There are some wood doors suppliers that offer free installation. This is very important since setting up such doors will never be easy. You can do it on your own, but you may eventually lose your warranty if something bad happens to your door during your self-installation. If they don't, you can ask if they have an installer and how much it will cost you.

4. They must offer warranty to your wood doors. Wood doors are very durable. They can last for a very long time. In fact, most of the old homes make use of them. However, they can also be delicate, especially when they are exposed to harsh weather conditions. Thus, there will definitely come a time when they get damaged. With your door under warranty you can get discounts for the repair, or you can completely change your door to something new.

5. Determine where the wooden doors come from. Some of the door suppliers are not manufacturers. Rather, they search for door makers all over the world. It's very important therefore that the manufacturers they are affiliated with are known for making quality wooden doors. It doesn't matter if they come from the United States or Europe. If these companies are not mentioned in the website of the supplier, you can ask for them. The best suppliers will never be afraid to reveal the names since they are confident of the quality of their products.

With finding the most ideal wooden doors suppliers, you will also never go wrong with the product that you will buy-you can get the best value for your money.
